To get to know our story I suggest you close your eyes (not now - you need to keep reading) and let your imagination run wild:
Let's start with two long-time friends sitting at a small table; they had just had a nice Porto style "tainada" for dinner and, at the end of the meal, as was already tradition between them, they opened a bottle of 12-year-old whiskey and talked into the night. One of the friends had a business in the bakery and pastry industry and, in the midst of conversations such as the last week's football match or the next dinner they were going to have, the subject of uniforms came up when this friend expressed his difficulty in finding comfortable, customised and highly personalised professional clothing in Portugal for his employees.
It was then that Domingos Araújo, the other friend in this story, recognised this problem as an opportunity and founded UNIFARDAS® in 1996, initially based in Rio Tinto, Portugal. Domingos Araújo brought a novelty to this market with an effective value offer: to enhance the art of making and personalising a company's image through customised workwear.
The path has not always been easy but with the increase in turnover and the expansion of markets, both nationally and internationally, UNIFARDAS felt the need to expand, modernise and find new facilities. The change of headquarters to the industrial area of Maia, Portugal, in 1998, provided the company with greater production capacity and better conditions to create and innovate, enhancing and cementing the company's image in the markets, ensuring the satisfaction of its customers.
The growing stability of UNIFARDAS® in the domestic and foreign markets was recognised by the award of the "Exporting Company Certification" and also awarded on it the status of "SME Leader" and "SME Excellence".
Keeping UNIFARDAS® up to date with the constant demands and changes in the world market was and continues to be a concern of its founder. Domingos Araújo was fortunate to share with his eldest son, Rui Araújo, the passion for this business which allowed the latter to direct his education and professional experience towards a macro objective: to innovate, digitise, orientate towards a circular/sustainable economy and maintain the quality assurance that characterises UNIFARDAS®. Since 2019, the two, in a beautiful symbiotic relationship, together with all the company's employees, have been the driving force behind UNIFARDAS®.
Currently, UNIFARDAS® produces and commercialises all types of uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE) and professional clothing for the most diverse business areas (hotels and restaurants, school or hospital uniforms, industrial uniforms, among others) adapting its products to the corporate image of the customer's business. The customisation of this type of clothing is a point in which UNIFARDAS® has become highly specialised, offering its customers a wide and varied range of customisation options always with a maximum level of demand, professionalism and respect for our planet (environment and people).
