UNIFARDAS® is a Portuguese company with a solid experience and a long tradition in the professional clothing sector.
With the constant evolution and growth of the professional clothing sectors, UNIFARDAS® felt the need to create and develop new and more comprehensive business strategies in order to consolidate its position in the various markets where it already operates while simultaneously increasing its presence in other markets.
Currently, UNIFARDAS® produces and markets all types of workwear, uniforms, lab coats, personal protective equipment (PPE), and professional clothing, adapting its products to the corporate image of your business while never neglecting the safety of your employees or the external visibility of your company. Customization of this type of clothing is a point where UNIFARDAS® has become highly specialized, offering its clients a wide and varied range of customization options always with the highest level of demand and professionalism.
To get to know our story I suggest you close your eyes (not now - you need to keep reading) and let your imagination run wild:
Let's start with two longtime friends sitting at a small table; they had just finished a delicious Porto-style "tainada" dinner and, at the end of the meal, as was their tradition, they opened a bottle of 12-year-old whiskey and talked into the night. One of the friends had a business in the bakery and pastry industry, and in the midst of conversations about last week's football game or the next dinner they were going to have, the topic of uniforms came up when that friend expressed his difficulty in finding comfortable, customized, and highly personalized professional clothing in Portugal for his employees.
It was then that Domingos Araújo, the other friend in this story, began to develop work coats tailored to the real needs of his friend's company, providing a practical solution to a specific problem. In 1996, they decided together to found UNIFARDAS®, initially based in Rio Tinto, Portugal. Domingos Araújo brought something new to this market with an effective value proposition: enhancing the art of tailoring and personalizing a company's image through customized workwear.
The path has not always been easy, but with increased turnover and the expansion of markets, both nationally and internationally, UNIFARDAS® felt the need to expand, modernize, and find new facilities. The move to new headquarters in the industrial zone of Maia, Portugal, in 1998, gave the company greater production capacity and better conditions for creating and innovating, enhancing and cementing the company's image in the markets and ensuring customer satisfaction.
The growing strength of UNIFARDAS® in the domestic and foreign markets has been recognized by the award of "Export Company Certification" and has also earned it the status of "Leading SME" and "SME Excellence."
Keeping UNIFARDAS® up to date with the constant demands and changes in the markets was and continues to be a concern for its founder. Domingos Araújo was fortunate to share his passion for this business with his eldest son, Rui Araújo, which allowed the latter to direct his education and professional experience towards a macro goal: to innovate, digitize, move towards a circular/sustainable economy, and maintain the quality assurance that characterizes UNIFARDAS®. Since 2019, the two, in a beautiful symbiotic relationship, together with all the company's employees, have been the driving force behind UNIFARDAS®.
UNIFARDAS® expands its horizons with the launch of the Hisi brand, a line that redefines the concept of hospital uniforms. Combining professional healthcare clothing with protection, sports, and an urban lifestyle, Hisi was created with a clear value proposition: to offer sustainable, extra comfortable garments made from lightweight, cool fabrics. Aimed at professionals who value modern design without sacrificing functionality, the brand also introduces technological innovation through antiviral finishes on its garments. With Hisi, UNIFARDAS® reinforces its commitment to the circular economy and the protection of caregivers, combining aesthetic innovation with superior technical performance.
UNIFARDAS® reinforces its position at the forefront of the industry by obtaining OEKO-TEX® STeP certification. This milestone consolidates our commitment to environmentally friendly processes and safe working conditions. However, our vision of sustainability goes beyond production, taking on active social responsibility. An example of this is our partnership with Espaço T, through which we support inclusion and community well-being. This is a path we intend to follow with the establishment of new strategic partnerships, ensuring that each uniform produced respects the environment and generates a positive social impact on those around us.
Celebrating three decades of history means honoring every person, customer, and partner who has been part of our industrial evolution. We look to the future with the same entrepreneurial energy that saw us come into being, planning for the next 10 years with an unwavering focus on technological innovation and service excellence. Our vision for the next decade is firmly anchored in sustainability and reliability, reinforcing our commitment to being the long-term partner par excellence in the professional clothing sector. We will continue to transform the protection and image of companies, ensuring that the tradition of UNIFARDAS® quality merges with the demands of an ever-changing world.
