Do you know the concept of Sustainable Fashion? Do you know how this concept can be applied to the Professional Apparel Industry?
We will present you with some possibilities here.
HISI Collection: launched in March 2021
HISI's foundations are based on five fundamental principles: protection, comfort, design, innovation and sustainability, always taking into account the opinions and needs of professionals in each sector when creating their articles.
Traditionally, healthcare professionals tend to wear uniforms that are ill-fitting, not very comfortable, not very functional and have very geometric cuts that do not really enhance the aesthetics of the clothing.
Taking into account these negative points mentioned by the professionals consulted, UNIFARDAS® had the following points as a starting point for the development of this collection of uniforms for healthcare professionals:
Ensure extra comfort for users using the HISI collection
High degree of sustainability through the choice of sustainable and recycled raw materials
Provide a high degree of protection through a finish that guarantees antiviral protection to clothing
Ensure flexibility and mobility of uniforms for healthcare professionals
Therefore, we have prepared a truly special collection!
This sustainable collection was created exclusively for Chef Rui Paula, but the design principles can be used in creating other custom collections.
The potential of ecological fabrics extends far beyond kitchen work and is already used by Unifardas in products from other areas, such as medical gowns - the objective will always be maximum optimization, responding to the specific needs of each activity at the lowest cost for the environment.

It was at a strong and accelerated pace that Unifardas participated in the iTechstyle Green Circle – Sustainability Showcase project. It is through the creation of a multifunctional coordinate, jumpsuit, inspired by modern workwear, the circular economy and environmental sustainability that we get involved in this participation. The outfit consists of a jumpsuit and the top part of a bib, which allows it to be transformed into a reversible apron, made with a range of Ecogreen fabrics.
UNIFARDAS® supports Espaço T, which is an inclusive organisation, of all and for all, and our common goal is to increase employment opportunities for young people with special needs and/or who, for some reason, have been excluded from the labour market.
We work hard to provide safe working conditions by going beyond the imposed and mandatory minimums.
We support, nurture and offer continuous training programmes aimed at improving skills.
At UNIFARDAS® we keep up to date with the latest technologies and innovations that can optimise our production process making it more efficient and close to zero waste.
UNIFARDAS® is a partner of Espaço T, an inclusive organisation, of all and for all, with the common goal of increasing employment opportunities for young people with special needs and/or who, for some reason, have been excluded from the labour market. In this organisation, immigrants will also find a support network in finding work and housing.
In addition to the sustainable path we have been taking throughout our production and supply chain, UNIFARDAS® participates, supports and organises a beach clean-up every year after the bathing season, in partnership with World Clean-up Day. We are also partners of Seaqual, an entity that, together with some other partners, promotes the collection of ocean waste and its transformation into upcycled marine plastic that will then be used in the production of fabric and other sustainable products.
