Partnerships

Our oceans represent the most beautiful and natural element of the intercontinental connection.
Why not bring this entire community together to help clean, repair and preserve the beauty of this natural resource?

‹ Back to Sustainability

THE SEAQUAL INITIATIVE represents this; an organization whose mission is to bring together individuals, businesses and other organizations to help clean the oceans and raise awareness about the accumulation of plastic near marine life.

This community includes small groups of volunteers who take part in beach cleaning, fishermen who bring in trash from the high seas, and even large international groups. Everyone is important!

The trash collected by Seaqual's partners includes all types of waste: plastic, metal, glass, rubber and many other materials harmful to marine life.

Recycling unsorted waste is very complex and expensive and therefore, not long ago, its destination was landfill or incineration. At SEAQUAL INITIATIVE we do not look for waste suitable for recycling; Everything you find is recycled, giving a second life to all this material. To make this possible, all waste is categorized according to the type of material present in its composition, separating them accordingly.

The collected and separated plastic is then cleaned and transformed into “Upcycled Plastic”, that is, value is added, in facilities approved by the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE.

It is then returned to the industry where it is transformed into new and sustainable products. In the specific case of the textile industry, it transforms upcycled marine plastic into sustainable fabric thread, Seaqual Recycled Polyester. After this process, UNIFARDAS®, as a Seaqual licensed partner, acquires this fabric and manufactures sustainable pieces of professional clothing. This initiative, by promoting the circular economy, is fully within the vision and mission of UNIFARDAS®.
