With the arrival of autumn and winter, it’s very normal to encounter extremely cold weather. That’s why we should protect ourselves as much as possible and have work clothes that protect us from these weather conditions, even more so if we work outdoors. The Polar Jacket is one of the textile industry’s excellent “innovations” to combat the cold. It combines lightness and protection against low temperatures with a synthetic material that is durable and widely used in the world of workwear.
Polar fleece, which makes up the Polar Jacket, is an alternative to wool, but in a synthetic composition, with excellent thermal insulation and manufactured on circular machines. It’s also a fabric with a very favorable weight-to-fleece ratio, because although it’s very light, it’s also very warm. The best fabric is spun polyester. This gives the Polar Jacket a more “fluffy” feel, which gives it the characteristic of having more volume and less weight.
The fabric most commonly used in this type of garment is made with both sides carded, one of which undergoes an anti-pilling process to prevent the formation of pilling , which can usually appear on polyester garments.
Polar fabric works as a synthetic knitted thermal insulation, always presented as a substitute for wool. Although wool is a “warm” fiber, which still retains its characteristics when wet, the use of synthetic fiber has some advantages over wool: it has the same heat insulation capacity, but at a lower weight, because it is a synthetic fiber it dries faster, is more breathable and retains heat better. Therefore, its main function is to retain the heat generated by the body, thus preventing it from cooling down, while at the same time allowing good air circulation.
Today we have a good understanding of how the body reacts to the cold. Knowing the properties of certain materials, we develop and manufacture work uniforms made from a wide variety of fabrics.
In order for the Polar Jacket to work effectively, it must:
There are several advantages that this type of fabric offers to your Polar Jacket or any other workwear garment that uses the same fabric. Among the many benefits we would like to highlight the following:
A lot of the time when we buy a certain product, we do so because we only know about that product and don’t know about other options that may even be more suitable for us and our company. We would therefore like to introduce you to another concept: Micropolar fabric.
When we talk about Polar and Micropolar, we can conclude that both materials have a structure in their fabric that creates small air pockets, retaining heat and facilitating the circulation of moisture. As such, these two fabrics are lighter than, for example, cotton, retain heat and dry much more quickly.
The difference is that micro polar is a lighter, more closed fabric.
The differences between Polar and Micro polar are:
Polar:
Micropolar:
Micropolar is basically a lower grammage polar, i.e. lower density. It is a lighter, more flexible and quick-drying fabric. This is a thinner fabric, with a tighter weave, lower density, but narrower so as to facilitate heat capture and rapid “expulsion” of perspiration.
Micro is recognized for changing the concept in more technical clothing, achieving great coverage capacity with minimal bulk.
The answer to this question is yes. As Unifardas manufactures professional clothing, our aim is to develop and manufacture the most suitable workwear for different companies, depending on their area of business and the image of their organization. Now that we’re going through the coldest seasons of the year, there’s a greater need for the right work clothes to combat the cold. There are many options within the cold workwear range to make work more bearable and comfortable in these weather conditions.
Polar
Much has already been said about these garments, including the Polar Jacket. This garment, which is an excellent solution for use as part of your work wardrobe, has a 100% polyester composition with different densities ranging from the most basic 220 gr. to the heaviest, suitable for use in very cold climates. It should be noted that they are pleasant to the touch and depending on the density chosen can be worn over a T-shirt or as a second layer of winter clothing.
Softshell
These are light, waterproof jackets that offer high thermal protection against the cold. These professional garments are suitable for outdoor work in adverse weather conditions and for maintaining freedom of movement. They are made from waterproof, windproof and softshell fabrics, and it is common to find them with a composition of mostly Polyester and a minimum of Elastane, or 100% Polyester and with densities between 350 and 525 gr.
Parkas
These are garments made from a more technical fabric, usually with a waterproof treatment and padded filling. With heat-sealed seams to prevent the passage of water, it is a piece of workwear to combat the cold and rain. They are usually made from 100% polyester or polyester over a PVC coating. In addition, to offer better insulation from the cold, it is common to include polar fabrics.
Padded vests
Another piece of workwear suitable for cold weather are padded vests.
The vests can be made in a wide variety of polyester and cotton compositions and can also include a quilted filling and internal fleece lining. For all these reasons, it is a particularly effective piece of workwear for combating the cold without sacrificing comfort.
When we work more exposed to the cold, we need to wrap up more effectively in order to stay healthy, comfortable and warm. In the past, very thick coats made from “natural” fabrics such as wool were used, but this had to change in order to help preserve nature.
Thanks to technological advances, different types of synthetic fabrics have been discovered and introduced into workwear in order to create more durable, resistant and even waterproof fabrics that protect you from rain and cold. This type of clothing, including the Polar Jacket, effectively protects workers from low temperatures by offering extra lightness and comfort.
